31st Infantry at Ft Drum

revised 6:57 AM on 2/4/97

Dear Mr Barker,
I am a Vietnam veteran of the 31st Infantry but am an active member of
the regimental association in which roughly 2/3 are Korean War vets.

We have two upcoming events that may be of interest. The first is
reactivation of the 31st Infantry at Ft Drum (Watertown, NY) on 12 April
as part of the 10th Mountain Division. The second is our annual reunion
scheduled for 28 June through 1 July at the Rosslyn Westpark Hotel in
Arlington, VA, just across the potomac from Washington, DC. We publish
a newsletter three times a year in which we have a "From the Past"
column spanning the regiment's history all the way back to 1916.

Another column is "Looking Back", a personal history submitted by
members of the association.

We have roughly 500 active members including veterans of the Siberian
campaign of 1919-1920, Shanghai campaign of 1932, Bataan campaign
of 1941-42, Korean War, and Vietnam War. The last active unit of the
regiment was inactivated at Ft Sill, OK in July 1995, but is soon to be
reactivated at Ft Drum, as indicated above. For further info, contact

Would like to contact anyone who served in my unit in Korea in Kumwa

serving there during that time with King Company.

Would especially like to contact twin brothers I served with in Seehung

Did anyone know Dave Rochter who was killed in action at that time? He

for some of his friends that you may have come across or may have some
information on.

Could you either return my mail or give him a call at 317-356-7110. His
name is George Wood, Indianapolis, IN.

He is looking for:

Robert Browning from Georgia, Robert Hilabrand (unsure of last name
Hildabrand, Holiburton) from California.

They were all cooks together in Korea. He is also looking for anyone who
was there with him and T.F.Parker. George and T.F. were recently
reunited after 44 years and are looking for more of their buddies.

Thanks for your help.

Am wondering about where he was killed, and might like to talk to
someone who was in the same unit with him when he died.

Place of action was "somewhere near Mong Gae."

He was with the EUSA, 7ID, 31st Regiment, Company "L".

I did not see any reunion information regarding his Company on your
reunion page.

Do you know of any information regarding his Company for re-unions,
names, phone numbers, etc.

Any information would be helpful.

Thank You,

Also, I have been unable to access any information online concerning the

would like to just find out the status of such testing if possible.

My husband James Busher served in the 7th Infantry Division, 31st
Infantry Regiment, F (Fox) Company from 1949 to June 1951. He would
like to hear from anyone he served with during that time. He survived
such things as the Inchon landing and the Chosin Reservoir and many
other forms of hell that was thrown at him and his brother soldiers.

He is a life member of the KWVA, Past President and Life Member of the
Northeast New York Chapter of KWVA, Life Member of: 7th Division, 31st
Infantry Regiment. He will soon join the "Chosin Few."

Jim enjoys going to reunions of these organizations and meeting with
other Korea War veterans (notice I chose the word War and not Conflict!)

I want to get as much information on this wonderful man so I can publish
